Geographical data processing
The computationally-intensive process of preparing geographical data for the Gaea+ client is run on XtreemOS. The advantages of XtreemOS are transparent use of multiple computational resources and ease of data management with the global XtreemFS file system.
The video shows the whole process, starting with data creation, processing the data using a workflow of raster operations, and finally serving the data to the Gaea+ viewer application. The graphical monitoring capabilities of XtreemOS are also shown.

Elastic Web Application Hosting
WS-Escape is an elastic system for web appplication hosting that runs on top of XtreemOS.
Wissenheim
Wissenheim is a distributed interactive 3D virtual world for edutainment and entertainment. The game is started by each participant by using the XtreemOS xconsole. The application loads the persistent game state information by using the XtreemOS grid file system (XtreemFS.) Subsequently, the scene graph is transparently distributed and replicated by the XtreemOS Object Sharing Service (OSS). Avatar interactions and scene graph changes are synchronized through speculative transactions provided by the OSS. In case of severe errors the application relies on the grid checkpointing service (XtreemGCP).
